Manchester United fans have started a protest at the club’s Carrington training ground following the club’s attempt to join the European Super League this week.
United owner Joel Glazer issued a grovelling apology to supporters after the breakaway plot collapsed but there has been anger in the fanbase for the “Big Six” for trying to take the club into the rebel competition where they would be exempt from relegation.
Online United fanzine “Red Issue” posted pictures of fans outside the car and reception entrances of the club’s training facilities, and tweeted: “United fans protesting against the Glazers have blocked both entrances to Carrington.”
Owners of the six clubs were expected to receive a backlash from supporters after plotting to enter the competition without consultation with fans.
