Strictly’s Karen Hauer suffers wrist injury as she wears a bandage on night before second live show

The star needed medical attention following a week of grueling rehearsals with celebrity partner Jamie Laing.

The pair squeezed in one last rehearsal on Friday night but Karen was spotted leaving the dance studio with white bandages covering her hand.

Karen, 38, appeared in good spirits in the back of her chauffeur-driven car and showed her injury wasn’t too serious, moving her fingers and flashing a peace sign.

Nevertheless, it’s not ideal for the pair after Jamie failed to wow the judges with his Cha Cha Cha last weekend.

Karen paired with Jamie after he was forced to pull out of the BBC1 show last year because of injury — replaced by the eventual winner Kelvin Fletcher.

But she had been desperate to dance with former boxer Nicola Adams, who has already been tipped by some insiders as an early favourite to win.

A source said: “Karen is absolutely gutted. For ages she was the favourite to get the nod to dance with Nicola and had even gone as far as planning out routines for them to perform.

“She’d got to know Nicola really well too and the pair had become really good friends.

“She’d not only got her heart set on dancing with Nicola, she had prepared herself for it mentally. So for them to suddenly decide to pick Katya was a massive blow.”

Karen and Jamie have a battle on their hands to win the Glitter Ball trophy.

Judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motzi Mabuse and Shirley Ballas scored them a total of 14 – leaving them second to last behind Jacqui Smith and Anton Du Beke.

However, viewers loved the launch night and the audience peaked at 10.1million on Saturday as singer HRVY topped the leaderboard.
