After months of development and testing, the Rogue Drone demo is now available on Steam ahead of Steam Next Fest.
Rogue Drone is a sci-fi strategy game that combines crystal mining, base building, tower defense, and resource management. During the day you’ll gather resources, expand your outpost, and unlock new technology. At night you’ll defend your colony against increasingly dangerous enemy attacks.
The latest demo includes several major improvements and additions:
Reworked mining system with a much smoother onboarding experience
New risk versus reward harvesting where hotter crystals provide larger yields
New Supercrystals that offer valuable high-yield mining opportunities
Minimap zoom controls
8 unlockable skills
Grid-based base building and upgrades
Crystal refining from Tier 1 to Tier 5 resources
Junkyards that collect electronics and salvage for advanced upgrades
Multiple turret types with different strengths and weaknesses
Various balance improvements, bug fixes, and quality-of-life updates
One of Rogue Drone’s core mechanics revolves around crystal mining. Crystals grow larger every day and become more valuable over time. Players can harvest them safely for smaller rewards or push them close to overheating for significantly higher yields.
The resources you gather are used to expand your base, unlock new technologies, construct defenses, and prepare for increasingly challenging enemy waves.
With the demo now live, the focus shifts to gathering feedback and seeing how players approach the game’s systems. We’re especially interested in hearing about progression, mining, base building, and overall balance.
