Former Steelers QB Kenny Pickett finds new home in NFC

As free agency moves fly left and right, former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny “Two Gloves” Pickett found a new team to call home for the 2026 season.

On Monday, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that Pickett agreed to a one-year deal with the Carolina Panthers, a contract worth up to $7.5 million.

Pickett, who was selected by the Steelers with the 20th overall pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, struggled to live up to his first-round status through his first two seasons with Pittsburgh. He eventually requested a trade after the Steelers brought in quarterback Russell Wilson in 2024 and was dealt to the Philadelphia Eagles shortly after.

After a short stint with the Eagles, Pickett was traded to the Cleveland Browns in March 2025 and then once more to the Las Vegas Raiders five months later.

While Pickett will head into Carolina as the likely top backup option behind starting quarterback Bryce Young, the Steelers are still hoping to find an answer of their own at signal caller this offseason.
