Bears 'keeping tabs' on Maxx Crosby in potential trade

The Chicago Bears have been the subject of trade rumors and speculation ahead of free agency, where there are several players garnering trade interest, including linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, wide receiver DJ Moore and backup quarterback Tyson Bagent.

While most of the rumors have revolved around Chicago being sellers, it sounds like they could be showing an interest in making a move for superstar pass rusher Maxx Crosby, who’s been the subject of plenty of trade speculation.

According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, there’s a growing belief that the Las Vegas Raiders will trade Crosby — and this week — and he noted that the Bears are keeping tabs on Crosby’s availability. Breer mentioned that the Dallas Cowboys, Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots, Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Rams are also monitoring the situation.

As for potential compensation, Breer doesn’t expect it would be the haul that the Raiders got for Khalil Mack back in 2018 or what the Cowboys got for Micah Parsons last season, which both cost two first-round picks among other compensation. He noted both guys were younger and nearing the end of their rookie contracts.

The Bears have a big need at edge rusher this offseason and adding Crosby to the roster would make them immediate contenders in 2026. Crosby already has a nice rapport with quarterback Caleb Williams, who recently appeared on Crosby’s podcast “The Rush,” and the two spoke glowingly of each other, igniting trade rumors.

Eight years ago, Chicago made a blockbuster trade to land Mack from the Raiders, and he went on to lead one of the NFL’s best defenses. Could we soon see history repeating itself?
