Steelers pursuing blockbuster trade for former first-round draft pick
The Steelers are looking to make a major move this offseason to add to their wide receiver room.
According to Andrew Fillipponi of 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh, the Steelers are currently in talks with the Jacksonville Jaguars about acquiring wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. via a trade. The two teams also reportedly discussed shipping Thomas Jr. to the Steel City at the trade deadline, but the move never materialized.

Steelers looking to add 2024 Pro Bowl WR Brian Thomas Jr. in potential trade with Jaguars
Thomas Jr. was a first-round NFL Draft pick in 2024, selected with the 23rd overall pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars. He became a Pro Bowl selection and was voted to the PFWA All-Rookie Team in 2024 after hauling in 1,282 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns, which ranked him third in the NFL in receiving yards for the season.

But last year, Thomas Jr. just 707 yards and two touchdowns, raising concerns as he heads into his third season in the league. However, the Steelers have struggled mightily to find and retain standout wide receivers in recent years and need at least 1-2 starting options to pair with DK Metcalf. Thomas Jr. could be a solution to that issue.
