Podziemski Breaks Down Approach to Starting for Warriors
Brandin Podziemski’s versatility is proving to be a key aspect of his skill set this season, especially now as the Golden State Warriors navigate a lengthy injury list. Regardless of whether he’s starting or coming off the bench, Podziemski has continually found ways to impact games, be that via scoring, rebounding, playmaking or working as a connective tissue.
Against the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday, Feb. 25, Podziemski once again produced an all-around performance. He ended the night with 19 points, 8 rebounds and six assists while shooting 6-of-14 from the field, including 3-of-8 from deep.

When speaking with the media after the game, Podziemski discussed his mentality when moved into a starting role.
“I think we set it really on the defensive end to start the game,” Podziemski said, via Sam Gordon. “Just had a tone, got some easy ones, and then you look at the third quarter, we really didn’t set a tone when we started there. So just trying to start quarters, start halves with a tone set and just play out there.”
Podziemski has been one of the Warriors’ most consistent performers during their injury crisis. Steve Kerr will undoubtedly need that level of production to continue as the team navigates the coming weeks and waits for some of the veteran stars to eventually return.
Fortunately for Golden State, Podziemski rarely looks out of place in the starting lineup and is proving more than capable of carrying an increased workload.
