Nebraska snaps losing streak in 66-65 win against Washington

Nebraska (17-11, 6-11) finished its trip to the Pacific Northwest on Sunday afternoon against Washington (19-9, 9-8). The Huskers snapped their six-game losing streak, taking down the Huskies 66-65.

Britt Prince delivered the game-winner for Nebraska, sinking her only three-point shot of the game with seven seconds left. Washington almost stole the win back but missed three shots in the last couple of seconds. This is the Huskers’ first win since January. Nebraska did hold a 12-point lead in the second quarter, which the Huskies erased.

Both teams shot near identically on the day. Nebraska hit 26-of-61 from the floor and 5-of-16 from beyond the arc. Washington shot 27-of-68 and 5-of-26. This is the Huskers’ first game in February where the defense held opponents under 50 percent from the floor.

The Huskers, however, got the edge at the free-throw line and in the turnover battle. Nebraska shot 9-of-12 at the line and scored 19 points off 17 turnovers. Washington hit 6-of-8 and only produced six points on 11 turnovers. The Huskies did outrebound Nebraska 46-28.

Prince led the Huskers offensively, scoring a game-high 22 points, hauling in a team-high six rebounds, earning six assists and snatching three steals. She shot 9-of-18 from the floor and 3-of-4 from the line.

Amiah Hargrove tallied 14 points for Nebraska, shooting 6-of-10 from the floor and 2-of-2 from the line. She also hauled in four rebounds. Jessica Petrie scored 11 points off the bench and secured four rebounds and two steals. Logan Nissley finished with eight points, going 3-of-9 from the floor and 2-of-6 from beyond the arc.

Nebraska concludes the regular season on Saturday afternoon at home against Rutgers for Senior Day. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. CT on B1G+.
