Nebraska softball shuts down No. 11 Texas A&M in 8-2 victory

Nebraska softball (9-4) faced No. 11 Texas A&M (9-5) in the second day of the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic on Saturday night. The Huskers shut down the Aggies, 8-2, grabbing their fifth top-15 win of the season.

Jordy Frahm (3-3) and Alexis Jensen delivered the one-two punch on the day in the circle, combining for 14 strikeouts against seven hits, four walks and two runs. Nebraska’s defense held Texas A&M to its second-lowest scoring game of the season. The Aggies average over seven runs a game.

Frahm got the win for the Huskers, pitching 5.0 innings and striking out 10 batters, her second double-digit strikeout game of the season. She allowed only five hits and one run. Jensen pitched the final 2.0 innings, firing four strikeouts and allowing two hits and one run.

Nebraska totaled eight hits for eight RBIs on the night. Frahm delivered in the batter’s box, hitting 2-for-3 with one walk for four RBIs. She struck a three-run home run in the sixth, putting the game away for the Huskers. Jesse Farrell hit Nebraska’s first home run of the game in the fifth, a solo shot.

Ava Kuszak, Carlie Muhlbach and Kacie Hoffmann all added a hit and an RBI, helping Nebraska dominate the weekend on offense. In just three games, the Huskers outscored their opponents 30-3, averaging .410 as a team and hit eight doubles, six home runs and 29 RBIs.

Nebraska concludes the classic on Sunday against Seattle and California. The Huskers start the day against the Redhawks at 11 a.m. CT before facing the Golden Bears on 1:30 p.m. CT. Both games will be streamed on FloSoftball.
