'Wonderful' attacker would be a better signing for Liverpool than Yan Diomande
Morgan Rogers is one of many players who Liverpool have been linked with for the longest time.
The 23-year-oold has burst onto the scene at Aston Villa over the last few years and, although his start to the 2025-26 season was slow, he’s quickly made up for his lack of goalscoring form.

The attacker has been described as a “wonderful” player in the past with several clubs vying for his transfer.
This season alone, the Englishman has contributed to 17 goals across all competitions and even though his best position is as a number 10, Unai Emery has used him as a left-winger and a striker this term.
Although the January transfer window shut without Liverpool adding any new talent to their ranks, that didn’t stop players such as Rogers from being linked with a move.
Indeed, the fee required to sign him would be around £100 million but, for a proven Premier League attacker who’s still on 23 years old, it feels like the £100 million fee would be more than worth it.

Yan Diomande is the other attacker that seems to have piqued Liverpool’s interest over the last few weeks.
The 19-year-old is one of the most sought-after prospects in the world at the moment but, since his asking price is around £80 million, his transfer would be a massive risk.
Indeed, the Ivorian has been setting the Bundesliga alight over the last couple of years but, since he’s only had a couple of years in one of Europe’s top five leagues, it’s unclear whether he’d be able to handle the pressure of the Premier League or not.

However, in Rogers’ case, the fact that he’d be classed as homegrown, already has years of Premier League experience and would only cost around £20 million more makes his transfer look like an absolute steal.
The only downside to the Englishman’s transfer would be the fact that he’s unable to play on the right-wing.
At the moment, this wouldn’t be a massive problem since Mohamed Salah is still Slot’s starting right-winger, but, if he chooses to exit upon the expiry of his contract next season, there’s going to be a massive void for Liverpool to fill.
Rogers’ arrival could obviously change the way that Liverpool line up but, as this season has shown, Slot is rather unlikely to do that, even if he doesn’t have the personnel to fill out his usual 4-2-3-1 formation.
