South Bay Lakers recap: G League Lakers fall short to Vipers
The South Bay Lakers took a 5-3 regular-season record on the road on Saturday when they faced the Rio Grande Vipers at Bert Ogden Arena in Texas. Early on, it looked like they were on their way to another win, as they rode some hot outside shooting to an early six-point lead in the first quarter.
South Bay extended its lead to 63-53 at halftime, but it got outscored by nine in the third quarter and lost its lead. It fell behind by as many as 11 points in the fourth period, and its late rally attempt wasn’t enough, as it lost, 126-121.

The Lakers committed 21 turnovers, which resulted in 27 Rio Grande points, and they were outscored in the paint by 18 points. Three Rio Grande players exceeded the 20-point mark, including forward Isaiah Crawford, who had a game-high 29 points.
For South Bay, R.J. Davis led the way with 27 points plus seven rebounds and eight assists, while rookie guard Augustas Marčiulionis made 11 of 17 shot attempts to score 24 points.
