Social media reacts to Michigan State football hiring Max Bullough

One of the best stories in college sports will always be when the prodigal son comes home. Michigan State football will get to experience that classic story, as the Spartans are bringing back Spartan legend and former All-Big Ten linebacker Max Bullough to East Lansing to be their new Co-Defensive Coordinator and Linebackers Coach.

This isn’t just a move by new MSU head coach Pat Fitzgerald to appeal to fans and ingratiate himself with the community either. Bullough, who has spent the past few years with Notre Dame, is considered to be one of the rising stars in coaching. Heck, even Mike Vrabel said a few years ago that Bullough was one of the smartest players he’s ever coached, so it’s no surprise that Bullough is excelling as a coach, even at the young age of 33.

Predictably, the move had social media on fire, as Spartan fans, many of whom were clamoring for Bullough to come back home to East Lansing most of the season, celebrated the hire. You can see some of the best reactions to the move below:
