Michigan coaching fallout grows as Moore taken into custody
It’s been an eventful day in Ann Arbor (to say the least), with head coach Sherrone Moore being fired for cause for having an inappropriate relationship with a staffer. While that was enough to break the internet, that wasn’t the end of the story.
ESPN’s Dan Wetzel reported that Moore had been detained by police in Saline and transferred to Pittsfield Township following his firing. Now Wetzel is reporting that Moore is officially in custody in the Washtenaw County jail.
New York Times bestselling author and frequent Michigan football insider John U. Bacon notes that the reason for Moore’s arrest was due to threatening the staffer with whom he had the relationship. Bacon wrote several inside-the-program books including ‘Three And Out’ and ‘Endzone.’
Back from a book event for The Gales of November here in Houghton Michigan, and now wading through reports, some reliable, some not. But Sherrone Moore has been fired for cause, he is in police custody after threatening the employee in question, and on “self-protection” watch.
With Moore being fired for cause, the Wolverines will not be on the hook for his remaining salary. Biff Poggi has been named acting head coach and will coach in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl.
