According to Adam Schefter, at this point, the Colts want to see what kind of shape Rivers is in, while Rivers still has to decide if he wants to play.
But let’s play the hypothetical game for a moment and say that Rivers ends up signing with the Colts. He is currently a semifinalist for the 2026 Hall of Fame class. So what would this decision do to his eligibility?
According to Clayton Holloway, if Rivers signs with the Colts and takes a snap, his Hall of Fame eligibility would reset — meaning that he would have to wait another five seasons to regain his eligibility.
Per a spokesperson for the Pro Football Hall of Fame: If Philip Rivers signs with the #Colts and takes a snap, his HOF eligibility would reset and he would need to be out for another five seasons for Hall of Fame eligibility.
