Texas A&M Soccer has hired its next head coach

After 32 years, the Texas A&M soccer program will be under new leadership following the retirement of legendary coach G Guerrieri. It was announced on Tuesday that former Florida State assistant coach Bobby Shuttleworth will be taking over in Aggieland.

The newly appointed coach brings a wealth of playing experience and a championship mentality to a team that reached the Elite Eight just a few seasons ago. His competitive mindset and proven record make him the ideal candidate as only the second head soccer coach ever at A&M, and he could be the catalyst needed to push them to the next level. He is enthusiastic about the opportunity and what the future holds for the program.

“I am committed to honoring the winning tradition that has defined Texas A&M soccer by continuing to compete for championships at the highest level.”

While at FSU, Shuttleworth helped lead the Seminoles to a 70-7-12 record during his four seasons there and is fresh off a 2025 national title run, where they defeated Stanford 1-0 to claim the gold. In 2023, they were recognized as part of the United Soccer National Coaching Staff of the Year after an undefeated season that resulted in a national title.

He was also an accomplished goalkeeper who finished his career ranked 13th all-time among MLS goalkeepers in regular season matches, with 232 appearances. That experience helped him coach star goalie Kate Ockene to an outstanding performance in the championship game against Stanford.

It is truly a new era in Aggieland, and Coach Shuttleworth will have the chance to put his stamp on the program by working to bring them to prominence in the future.
