When it comes to Frank Sinatra’s music on the Billboard charts, the late superstar can usually be located only on the jazz rankings, but his music fares much better toward the end of the year. Sinatra is one of a number of legendary artists whose Christmas output surges in popularity, bringing him to some of Billboard’s most important rosters. It seems that when it comes to Sinatra, a return to his Yuletide classics also encourages Americans to listen to anything and everything he recorded during his storied career, as one of his most successful compilations — which is not attached to the upcoming holiday — returns and helps the singer reach a milestone for the very first time.

Sinatra claims a pair of spots on the Billboard 200 this week, which is an impressive feat for an artist who got his start well over half a century ago and who has been gone for decades. As Ultimate Sinatra reappears, Ultimate Christmas continues its annual ascent. This week, the compilation, which gathers together most of the crooner’s celebrated holiday staples, jumps 30 spots to No. 36. Ultimate Christmas has performed significantly better than Ultimate Sinatra in terms of peak position, as the holiday favorite is one of his top 10 successes.

In addition to both Ultimate Christmas and Ultimate Sinatra, Christmas Songs by Sinatra finds space on the Jazz Albums, Traditional Jazz Albums, and Top Holiday Albums charts, while Nothing but the Best and In the Wee Small Hours carve out a home once more on the Jazz Albums roster.
