WTA Finals 2025: Aryna Sabalenka vs. Amanda Anisimova Preview, Prediction
No player other than Aryna Sabalenka has tasted more success this season on the WTA tour. And she now wants to continue her winning ways at the WTA Finals as well.
But up against her is a tricky opponent in the form of Amanda Anisimova, who is the only player in the draw to qualify for the year-end championship for the first time this season. They will walk onto the center court following the first semifinal between Jessica Pegula and Elena Rybakina.
Sabalenka and Rybakina are the only players from Group Steffi Graf and Serena Williams yet to lose a round-robin match. If one of them ends up winning the tournament, they will gain 1,500 ranking points as well as $5,235,000 in prize money.
Last year’s champion, Coco Gauff, has crashed out because of her defeat to Sabalenka in her last round robin match. In her first match, she suffered defeat at the hands of Pegula.
Gauff and Iga Swiatek were the only players in the draw to have won a WTA Finals title. The Pole clinched it in 2023 by defeating Pegula, while last year, Gauff went past Paris Olympics champion Qinwen Zheng, who failed amidst her struggles with fitness problems.
