On Wednesday evening, the France U20 team saw their World Cup run end in the semi-finals against Morocco.
Eliminated on penalties, Les Bleuets suffered a cruel ending—and also a hefty dose of karma.
Before the semi-final, Lisandru Olmeta, the France goalkeeper, showed his confidence—perhaps a bit too much.
“I told my parents they can get a ticket for the final […] For now we’re on the right track but there’s still one game, we have to win it […] I think it’s going to happen, I can’t wait to be there,” he said.
But in the end, Bernard Diomède’s men fell at the wire (1-1, 4-5 pens), leaving the young Moroccans overjoyed and free to taunt the young keeper, as Yassine Gessime did after the match.
