Rams predicted to grab offensive tackle in early 2026 mock draft

The Los Angeles Rams have started their 2025 season with a 4-2 record, and with 11 games left, they have plenty of time to prove that they’re true playoff contenders or show that they’ve beaten up on some bad teams to start the year.

Either way, the 2026 NFL draft is a long ways away, but that hasn’t stopped the folks over at ESPN, including NFL draft analyst Jordan Reid, from releasing some early 2026 mock drafts.

On Wednesday, Reid released his newest mock, which has the Rams picking at No. 18 based on the current standings, and with their first-round pick, he projects the Rams to select Utah offensive tackle Caleb Lomu.

“While Warren McClendon Jr. has been serviceable at right tackle the past two weeks in place of Rob Havenstein, the Rams need a long-term blocker,” Reid wrote. “Havenstein is 33, he is scheduled to be a free agent after the season, and his health is a question mark. Meanwhile, Lomu is effective in space, and his movement skills fit the Rams’ zone-blocking scheme well.”

After redshirting as a true freshman in 2023, Lomu earned the starting left tackle job in 2024 and has held that position through the first give games of this season.

Los Angeles gave left tackle Alaric Jackson a three-year, $57.75 million contract in 2025 with $35.43 million guaranteed, so he’s probably going to stay in that spot at least through 2026, but if Lomu can hold up at left tackle through the end of this year, he could take on that challenge in Los Angeles if they were to take him.
