Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season was pretty good to the NFC West. Well, it was good to all but one team. The division went 3-1, and that one loss was inevitable because there was a divisional matchup in Week 1.
The only team to lose was the Seattle Seahawks.
With the conclusion of Week 1, let’s see what the standings in the NFC West look like and look back at each of the games played by its teams.
NFC West standings after Week 1
- San Francisco 49ers, 1-0 (1-0 division)
- Arizona Cardinals, 1-0 (1-0 conference)
- Los Angeles Rams, 1-0
- Seattle Seahawks, 0-1 (0-1 division)
What happened in the NFC West in Week 1?
Cardinals 20, Saints 13
The Cardinals won their first season opener since 2021 and picked up their first win in New Orleans since 1996. Kyler Murray threw two touchdown passes and the defense limited the Saints to 315 total yards.
49ers 17, Seahawks 13
49ers quarterback Brock Purdy threw two interceptions, but also had two touchdown passes, including the go-ahead score to tight end Jake Tonges with 1:34 left in the game. But it took Seahawks QB Sam Darnold fumbling in the red zone with 36 seconds left to seal the Niners’ win.
Rams 14, Texans 9
Matthew Stafford reached 60,000 career passing yards and had a touchdown pass. Puka Nacua had 10 catches for 130 yards and the defense had a takeaway and limited the Texans to only 265 yards. It was their fourth regular-season game in their last five, dating back to last season, in which they allowed fewer than 10 points.
