On a disjointed Friday, Flathead fell to Missoula Hellgate in their season opener 8-0 in Western AA girls soccer.
A bus breakdown and lightning delays disrupted the trip for Flathead, who fell behind 3-0 at the half.
“They forced Hellgate to play all 80 minutes and that is no small feat for a young team in a building year,” Bravettes coach Cassie Congdon said. “They left it all on the field. They discovered pride in who they are becoming and pride in the progress already made.”
The game lasted over four hours from opening kickoff to final whistle.
