New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel gave key injury updates on All-Pro cornerback Christian Gonzalez and second-year wide receiver Ja’Lynn Polk on Sunday.
The announcement was in relation to their practice status heading into Week 2 of the preseason.
According to Vrabel, Gonzalez won’t be practicing this week, but he will travel with the team to Minnesota as a non-participant in joint practices and the preseason game against the Vikings. Polk will not make the trip this week.
Polk entered the medical tent and never returned in the first half of Friday’s preseason opener against the Washington Commanders. Gonzalez has been sidelined with a hamstring injury, but it isn’t expected to be a long-term issue.
Polk’s injury status is especially tough considering he was viewed as on the roster bubble by some ahead of training camp. His situation will be one to monitor in the coming weeks. If he misses significant time, it could greatly impact his chances of making the final roster.
