Special moment for Commanders' Tress Way and MLB star

Brice Turang is the starting second baseman for the NL Central-leading Milwaukee Brewers. He’s tied for team lead with a .276 batting average, and has hit eight home runs, driven in 49 runs, and stolen a team-high 19 bases.

On Sunday, Turang hit two home runs to lead the Brewers to a three-game sweep of the Washington Nationals in D.C.

In addition to Turang’s exploits on the diamond Sunday, he had a pretty special week in the Washington, D.C. area. Turang, you see, is the brother-in-law of longtime Washington Commanders punter Tress Way. Turang’s sister, Brianna, and Tress recently added to their family, and the MLB star joined them in town last week to celebrate that addition.

Back in March, Way was on the “Grant and Danny” show on 106.7 The Fan, where he revealed that he and his wife had adopted a baby boy named Brooks.

Here’s Way discussing his new son during the radio appearance.

“Right around the time we clinched the playoffs against the Atlanta Falcons, we get matched for an adoption for a beautiful baby boy,” Way said. “And so we make the playoffs, and we know that he was born with a heart condition, and in the midst of the playoffs, he ends up having to have heart surgery, I’m going to Tampa playing, all of these different things, and it’s been so fun, so special, this offseason, after such an incredible season.”

Way then went on to explain how supportive the Commanders were, including GM Adam Peters, head coach Dan Quinn and minority owner Mitchell Rales.

Back to Brice Turang. Grant Paulsen revealed on Sunday that Turang arrived in D.C. a day early to celebrate with his sister and her family the formal adoption of his nephew Brooks.

A really cool moment for the Way and Turang families.

Tress and Brianna Way have three other children, one of whom is Beau, who is often at practice sporting his Jeremy Reaves (No. 39) or Terry McLaurin (No. 17) jerseys.

Congratulations to the Way family on a special week.
