WTA Nottingham Day 1 Predictions Including Dayana Yastremska vs Olga Danilović
The WTA grass court lead-up to Wimbledon continues this week in Nottingham and while the field doesn’t feature any of the world’s top players and most obvious Slam contenders, it still has a field that promises a lot of high quality grasscourt matches and a very unpredictable outcome, with several players having a real shot at the title. This first day should be a very exciting day of action to kickstart the tournament.
WTA Nottingham Day 1 Predictions
Anca Todoni vs Linda Noskova
Head-to-head: Noskova 1-0 Todoni
Noskova won with relative ease when the pair faced earlier this year in Brisbane and it is quite likely that the same story might repeat itself here. As well as Todoni played in qualifying to get to this main draw, Noskova is easily the better and more consistent player of the two overall and even on grass she should have a considerable edge in this matchup. Prediction: Noskova in 2
Antonia Ruzic vs Lucia Bronzetti
Head-to-head: Bronzetti 1-0 Ruzic
Bronzetti won in very straightforward fashion when the pair faced on a hard court last year and grass shouldn’t really change the dynamics of this matchup very significantly. Ruzic played well in qualifying but Bronzetti is a significant step up in level and should have a very clear edge here. Only by playing her very best could Ruzic think of causing an upset here. Prediction: Bronzetti in 2
Anna Blinkova vs Kamilla Rakhimova
Head-to-head: Blinkova 2-1 Rakhimova
On paper, this should be an extremely close match, with the two players having a very similar level and ranking. When they faced earlier this year in Miami, it ended in a Blinkova win after a very hard fought three setter and a similarly tight contest should be expected here, with the outcome being decided by who holds their nerve and executes better in key points. Prediction: Blinkova in 3
Dayana Yastremska vs Olga Danilović
Head-to-head: first meeting
This is another matchup where, on paper, there is very little to choose between two players of similar rankings and level. Yastremska actually won when the pair faced at the Wimbledon girls tournament back in 2016, but that obviously doesn’t mean much at this point. It should be an extremely close matched, decided by small details. Prediction: Danilovic in 3
