The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are poised for a major breakout in 2025, with expectations being a bit higher than those of a team that has had early playoff exits year after year.
There are several players they will be relying upon to have a successful season, the biggest may be offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs. When the Bucs started their mandatory minicamp on Tuesday, the media had to look harder to find him until he popped up on the sidelines. Attached to him was a significant knee brace, which was causing some initial concern and led to questions being asked to Todd Bowles at his media session.
However, Bowles quickly dismissed any need for concern, saying, “It’s precautionary. It’s the offseason. He’ll be fine in training camp.”
Wirfs has played in 79 games out of a potential 85 in his career.
Wirfs has proven reliable as an offensive tackle and one of the best at his position on either end. Bowles being able to shut down any concern quickly should point to this being a non-issue as we advance, and that the team recognizes that Wirfs’ usage is best saved for when the time is more vital.
Not necessarily a mandatory minicamp in June.
