It hasn’t been a banner season for the Colorado Rockies, but the franchise took its latest L in the most unlikely of places: a rejection from Mrs. Met herself.
Long-time internet goers by now know of the existence of a very loud, very rambunctious section of baseball fandom that is — to put it bluntly — down bad for New York Mets mascot Mrs. Met. Despite being happily married, Mrs. Met has endured countless propositions from baseball fans and mascots over the years. Seemingly, none have been successful, but that hasn’t stopped folks from trying!
Dinger, the mascot for the Rockies, is the latest fellow to try their hand for Mrs. Mets’ hand. During the Rockies’ recent series against the Mets, Dinger held up a sign during the game that read “MRS. MET CALL ME!”. The Mets’ broadcast had fun with the moment, but it’s clear that the message was yet another attempt to woo Mrs. Met away from her husband.
Unfortunately for Dinger, his advances were swiftly rejected. Once the Mets came home to New York, Mrs. Met had a simple, but effective, message for the Rockies mascot.
Oof. Not only did Mrs. Met take a dig at Dinger’s muscles, she also compared him to the other, more famous purple dinosaur on TV. Talk about a rough rejection, but I suppose that’s what you get when you publicly advocate to home-wreck a marriage in front of thousands of baseball fans and television cameras.
I’ll say this in defense of Dinger though. He, at the very least, has more game than the Rockies have got going on right now.
