Juventus confirm Igor Tudor as head coach for 2025-26 season
Juventus have confirmed Igor Tudor as their head coach for the 2025-26 season. The announcement, made on Tuesday, ended months of speculation about the Croatian’s future. New general manager Damien Comolli unveiled the decision at a press conference in Turin.
In March, Tudor stepped in as caretaker manager in March after Thiago Motta’s dismissal. He took over a Juventus side languishing in fifth place with nine games left. His leadership delivered a fourth-place finish in Serie A, securing Champions League qualification.
Tudor’s initial contract was due to expire after the FIFA Club World Cup. Aged 47, Tudor has strong ties to Juventus, having played there from 1998 to 2007. He won two Serie A titles as a player and was assistant manager under Andrea Pirlo in 2020-21. His managerial career includes roles at Lazio, Marseille, and Udinese.
Comolli, former president of Toulouse president, lauded Tudor’s past achievements. “I faced his Marseille team, and their intensity, mental strength, and drive were outstanding,” he said. They shared a laugh about Marseille’s two wins over Toulouse that season.
Juventus’ 2024-25 season was turbulent, with Motta’s exit a low point. Tudor’s interim role restored stability and ensured European football’s return to Turin. His extension aligns with plans for the Club World Cup, starting June 18 against Inter Miami.
Comolli also announced Kolo Muani’s loan extension from PSG for the tournament. Tudor stressed the need for two or three experienced signings to chase titles, highlighting Bremer, Koopmeiners, and Cabal as key players. He emphasized a squad average age of 26 or 27.
Tudor’s appointment signals Juventus’ focus on continuity and competitiveness. The club views him as central to their revival, with fans eager for his Club World Cup impact. His deep connection to Juventus strengthens his position to lead their charge.
