The Minnesota Vikings and the Green Bay Packers have a unique relationship. Their proximity allows for one of the biggest rivalries in the entire NFL, so much so that it goes up and down the social ladder in this country.
Whether you are in a classroom with your friends who may have different rooting interests, all the way up to presidential elections, worrying about upsetting swing states with their fandom, the fever runs deep between these teams. Ironically, despite the tenacity of the rivalry, there tends to be a crossover between the teams and their rosters from time to time. Most notably, Brett Favre went from being a Packers legend to nearly leading the Vikings to a Super Bowl if not for an ill-fated interception late in the 2010 NFC Championship.
Now that he is available, there may be another notable Packers player whom the Vikings could pursue.
On Monday, the Packers released their former All-Pro cornerback Jaire Alexander. He wraps up his seven-year career with the Vikings divisional rival. Alexander is known for his coverage ability of Justin Jefferson and his honors, which include All-Pros and Pro Bowl selections, as we mentioned.
The Vikings showed last year they have no issue taking some teams’ broken toys and turning them into their own pieces to get more juice out of them. They did it last season with Stephon Gilmore and had mild success, the key for Alexander to make a difference though is he must get back to being healthy.
He hasn’t played more than seven games in the last two seasons, but the last full season he played in 2022 ended with him making an All-Pro team.
