New York is hosting the Red Sox for a three-game series at Yankee Stadium in Bronx, New York.
Former Vol Garrett Crochet started for Boston on Saturday. He pitched six innings and recorded nine strikeouts. Crochet totaled 97 pitches, including 67 strikes, against 25 batters. He struck out Aaron Judge three times in the AL East contest.
The 6-foot-6, 245-pound left-handed pitcher allowed six hits, five runs and one walk.
He was selected by the White Sox in the 2020 Major League Baseball draft (No. 11 overall). The former Vol was traded to Boston ahead of the 2025 MLB season.
Crochet (10-9) played for the Vols from 2018-20 and recorded 149 strikeouts in 36 games. He went to Tennessee from Ocean Springs High School in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.
Crochet was also selected by Milwaukee in the 34th round of the 2017 MLB draft. He signed with the Vols over Texas and Tulane.
