Steelers All-Pro FS Minkah Fitzpatrick isn’t thrilled with the defense’s communication errors last season — and he’s making sure everyone is taking accountability.
At Steelers OTAs on Tuesday, Fitzpatrick wasted little time setting the tone for the defense in 2025 — warning players to either communicate or don’t play (courtesy of Steelers Live):
“Leave no gray — football should be black and white. In regards to execution and schematics, there should be no gray. It should be: ‘This is how we’re doing it,’ ‘This is how we’re going to communicate.’ If I give you a thumbs up, you give me a thumbs up back. If I give you a thumbs down, you give me a thumbs down back. It’s as simple as that,” Fitzpatrick stated. “When guys aren’t doing it or establishing, ‘This is what we’re doing’ — if you don’t want to do it, then you ain’t going to be here. You’re not going to be on the field. Really pressing down and instilling that in everybody.”
It’s safe to say Steelers fans wish the defense had this attitude at the end of 2024 — but better late than never, as the retooled unit looks to make a statement this upcoming season.
