The Ohio State men’s hockey team earned the right to play for the Big Ten Championship after taking down Penn State in the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament last weekend. The No. 3 seeded Buckeyes are now headed to East Lansing to take on No. 1 seed and No. 1 nationally ranked Michigan State.
The Buckeyes and Spartans did battle on four separate occasions this year with Sparty taking the series 3-1. Michigan State swept OSU the last time the two teams faced off north of the state line early in the season.
The Buckeyes have never won the Big Ten Tournament, but a win over the Spartans on Saturday would not only give them their first conference tournament championship, it would also secure a place in the NCAA Men’s Ice Hockey Championship.

Prediction – Ohio State 2, Michigan State 3: The Spartans are the No. 1 team in the nation for a reason. Playing at home with a Big Ten Tournament Championship on the line certainly plays in the Green and White’s favor. Ohio State will play hard and keep it close, but ultimately, Sparty holds on for the conference title.
