Madison Keys Makes Another Schedule Change After Australian Open Victory

Madison Keys’ return to the WTA Tour following her stunning Australian Open title run has been further delayed, as the American has withdrawn from another tournament. However, despite her extended break, the latest ranking updates provide positive news for the 29-year-old.

Injury Forces Further Schedule Adjustments

Initially scheduled to return at the Qatar Open, Keys withdrew from the tournament due to a hamstring injury, which turned out to be more serious than initially believed. The injury has forced her to pull out of the upcoming Dubai Tennis Championships, extending her layoff.

With these withdrawals, Keys is expected to make her competitive return at the Indian Wells Open in early March. Her name had initially appeared on the entry list for the ATX Open, a WTA 250 event in Texas at the end of February. However, after her ranking surged to No. 7 following her Australian Open victory, she was ineligible to participate due to the WTA’s top-10 rule, which allows only one top-10 player in a 250 event. As Jessica Pegula had already committed to the tournament, the 29-year-old was forced to withdraw.

A Silver Lining: No Immediate Ranking Threats
