Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk has become a victim of
a robbery in Milan. The 22-year-old has visited the city of Milan on a vacation
but has become a victim of robbery. She shared the details on social media with
a caption: “Expensive trip to Milano. Whoever did this- God bless you.
Truly,” Kostyuk also went on to release a video on the social media
platform where she revealed that people who committed this crime left her sporting
equipment.
Kostyuk will be hoping that the recent development will not
have a serious implication of how her next season going to be after having an
impressive 2024 season where she won 34 out of 54 matches and suffered just 20
defeats. However, despite that performance, she failed to win a single title in
2024.
Her best outing was playing in the final of two WTA 500
events where on both occasions, she ended up on the losing side. In February,
she lost to Britain’s Katie Boulter in the final of the San Diego Open with a
score of 5-7, 6-2, 6-2. Later in April, she lost in the final of the Porsche
Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart to world number six Elena Rybakina in straight sets
with a score of 6-2, 6-2.
Kostyuk’s best performance in a Grand Slam came in the
Australian Open where she was knocked out after losing in the quarterfinal to
world number three America’s Coco Gauff with a score of 7-6, 6-7, 6-2. Kostyuk’s
last appearance of the year came in the Wuhan Open where she lost in the third
round, once again to Gauff in straight sets with a score of 6-4, 6-1.
