Brian Daboll addresses Giants job security, John Mara’s prior vote of confidence after Thanksgiving loss at Cowboys
Brian Daboll is not worried about his job security, he said after the Giants‘ 27-20 loss at the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving dropped New York to 2-10 and extended the team’s seven-game skid.
“No,” Daboll said.
John Mara said last month, when the Giants were 2-5, that “we are not making changes this season, and I do not anticipate making any changes in the offseason either.”
“No, I don’t like the results,” Daboll said when asked if he was worried about New York’s results making Mara rethink his late-October statement. “Nobody likes the results. But, again, I have confidence in the people. Just have to get better.”
Through nearly three seasons, Daboll is 17-28-1, following 2022’s 9-7-1 campaign with 2023’s 6-11 step back and this season’s slide.
“You want to win,” said Drew Lock, who completed 21 of 32 passes for 178 yards while adding a rushing touchdown and committing two costly turnovers — a first-quarter pick-6 and third-quarter fumble — in the injured Tommy DeVito‘s place. “Upset we didn’t. Couple things we could’ve done better. … Wish we could’ve gotten it done.”
Five games remain in the Giants’ unraveling 2024, continuing with Week 14 and next Sunday’s 1 p.m. kickoff against the New Orleans Saints.
“Disappointing, disappointing trip,” Daboll said.
