Norfolk police responded to a MOD Pizza restaurant located at 1541 Premium Outlets Blvd this weekend following a report of a stabbing. They arrived to find the unnamed 24-year-old employee suffering from multiple stab wounds, appearing to have been disemboweled, per WAVY’s report.

The man was rushed to the hospital and luckily, his injuries were not considered to be life-threatening, the report says.

Police say the employee was in an argument with 45-year-old Catherine Harper over what she believed to be a “botched order.” She allegedly called her husband, Corey, to come “handle the situation,” per court documents. When he arrived, he was alleged to have stabbed the pizza shop worker several times, cutting across his torso, exposing his intestines.

The couple then fled the scene, police said.

Mr. Harper was charged with malicious wounding and brandishing a firearm while his wife was charged with conspiracy to commit malicious wounding, per jail records. A magistrate ruled against granting the couple bond. They are currently being held Norfolk City Jail.

Meanwhile, the restaurant is cooperating with the police investigation.

“We were dismayed to learn about an argument inside our Norfolk-area Lake Wright restaurant involving one of our employees and two guests. The altercation resulted in one of our MOD squad members being hospitalized and the arrest of one of the guests. MOD Pizza has zero tolerance for behavior that escalates conflicts, whether initiated by a guest or a team member,” said the restaurant in a statement.
