Mo’ Advert, Mo’ Power by Fawaz Oyedeji
Oyedeji, a historian and documentary photographer, explores the impact of political posters in Nigerian elections. Every four years, these posters flood cityscapes, allowing parties to assert power and dominance over urban spaces. The printing industry, though largely artisanal, plays a crucial role in the political culture and is worth millions annually. Oyedeji’s work highlights this phenomenon as part of his broader documentary practice. He was one of two winners of the second edition of the Daniele Tamagni Grant, which recognises outstanding contributions to documentary photography. His work sheds light on the intersection of politics, culture, and urban space. For more information, visit danieletamagni.comThe Guardian
