Boasting an unimaginable racing history from the 90s, this Ferrari would be a fantastic addition to any car collection.

In the car’s debut year it achieved a whopping six podium finishes and then seven podium finishes in 1997.

This included incredible wins at Halifax, Lime Rock, Pikes Peak, and Sebring during IMSA WSC Championships.

The magnificent motor is kitted out with an impressive 3,997 CC DOHC alloy V-12 engine.

The engine is derived from a Ferrari 641 Formula 1 car and has a spine-chilling 650 brake horsepower.

During its days of competing, the motor featured in 126 races and won well over a third of them.

These wins came at races like the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the 24 Hours of Daytona, and the 12 Hours of Sebring.

The Ferrari will feature at an event hosted by Gooding and Company, in Pebble Beach, California.

The auctioneers said: “During its illustrious career, chassis 010 was raced by the era’s best drivers including Michele Alboreto, Andrea Montermini, Didier Theys, Stefan Johansson, Gianpiero Moretti, and Fermín Vélez.”

A key attraction to the car is the eye-catching red exterior.

This is the iconic MOMO livery it sported during the impressive win at the 1997 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The auctioneers continued: “Since its retirement, this car has benefited from the care of knowledgeable private collectors and has been seldom seen in recent years except for select outings at private track events.

“Today, it is eligible for Ferrari’s exclusive F1 Clienti program and the increasingly popular Endurance Racing Legends series.

“Never before offered for public sale, chassis 010 represents a singular opportunity to acquire one of the most important examples of a historically significant Ferrari prototype racing car.

“This may well prove to be the chance of a lifetime.”

The rare vehicle will now reportedly head under the hammer on 16 August.

It comes after a rare Ferrari from the 90s that has been driven for less than one mile a day is going under the hammer for a staggering £3.95million.

The 1995 Ferrari F50 has done just 8,556 miles, less than a mile a day, and has been popular with A-list celebrities.

Rod Stewart, Clint Eastwood and Mike Tyson have all owned one of the flashy motors.

Ferrari only produced 349 examples of the F50, which at the time, was the closest a driver could come to a modern F1 vehicle.
