A FAMOUS chef has revealed why passengers should avoid plane food at all costs – and go for this pre-flight snack instead.
Many passengers look forward to tucking into their complimentary in-flight meal, however, travellers might want to think twice before digging in, according to a world-renowned chef.
Gordan Ramsey is no stranger to bad meals but even he refuses to eat the food on the plane.
The Michelin-starred chef revealed that he worked for airlines for ten years and is fully aware of “where this food’s been and where it goes, and how long it took before it got on board”.
“There’s no f***ing way I eat on planes,” Gordan added.
Instead, the master chef recommends travellers go for a pre-snack flight at an Italian bar.

He said: “A nice selection of Italian meats, a little glass of red wine, some sliced apples or pears with some parmesan cheese, I’m like a pig in s**t.”
Gordan Ramsey isn’t the only one to warn passengers of in-flight meals.

Whytney, who works for a major US airline, said: “It all comes down to how often the pipes are clean.
“Most flight attendants won’t drink the tap water, coffee or tea.”
It means passengers could opt for bottled water to stay safe and avoid dehydration by skipping the salty snacks.
Whytney told the Huffington Post, the issue isn’t so much in America, but across other countries that don’t have similar regulations in place.
Meanwhile, other crew members suggested staying away from eating steaks and fillets because of how they are prepared.
A Delta Air Lines flight attendant, who wished to remain anonymous, told the outlet: “If you are particular about how your steak should be prepared, don’t eat it.”
“The ovens are so big, and there is only so much food that can fit in it.”
The way the food is cooked while thousands of feet in the air means meat usually comes out overprepared and tough to eat.
