‘Cicada swarm has Illinois bugged out’

Tuesday’s front pages note the U.N. Security Council and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken pressuring Hamas to accept a Gaza peace deal, Hunter Biden’s gun application trial going to the jury, and French President Emmanuel Macron’s “huge gamble” on snap elections after his “setback” in European Parliament elections, as The New York Times reports. The Wall Street Journal tucks in a story about the “rare convergence” of two cicada broods into a “swarm” that “has Illinois bugged out.” Said one resident: “It’s really loud.”

The Times also has an article above the fold on how Montana is “fighting soaring suicide rate with gun locks and leaflets.” The Washington Post reports that Baltimore’s shipping channel is fully open once again after the Francis Scott Key Bridge’s collapse. Former President Barack Obama’s presidential library reached its “full height,” with Obama there to sign a metal beam, the Chicago Tribune says.
