‘GOP on spot to guarantee birth control’

Democrats are split on President Joe Biden’s executive order limiting asylum, but Republicans are divided over contraception and Democrats are working to put the “GOP on spot to guarantee birth control,” The New York Times says on Wednesday’s front page. “The choice to use birth control should be yours and yours alone,” Rep. Katherine Clark (D-Mass.) said at a news conference. Republicans can either “put aside their MAGA ideology” and “join us” in passing legislation to guarantee that right, or they can publicly “triple down on their anti-freedom extremism.” Far-right conservatives are in fact “conflating abortion and birth control,” The Washington Post says, a mislabeling that could “imperil access to contraception.”

In India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s BJP “party wins, but it’s far from a landslide,” the Times says. The Wall Street Journal calls the BJP’s loss of its simple majority a “setback,” while the Post says “India’s voters rebuke Modi.”
