‘Absolute joke’ fume beauty fans as Lidl’s £2 beauty box sells out in SECONDS with loads missing out

SHOPPERS have been left fuming after Lidl’s £2 beauty box sold out in seconds – branding the launch a “joke”.

Bosses at the budget supermarket teased the release of their new beauty box as the “latest must-have in beauty” earlier this week.

They insisted it was set to rival the likes of Liberty and Glossybox with a “carefully curated collection” of Cien skincare and wellness treasures worth £70.

Cien is Lidl’s in-house beauty brand, producing everything from make-up and skincare to haircare and tools.

And Lidl chiefs promised their £2 set would be “beauty without the beastly price tag”.

Even with the £2.99 delivery charge, it was a bargain.

But that was only true if you managed to get your hands on a box when the sale went live at 10am today.

With a big countdown clock appearing on the dedicated website until 9.59am this morning, shoppers frantically refreshed their screens when it hit zero.

From there, many claim they were unable to add anything to their basket with a ‘sold out’ message appearing within seconds.

Others were directed to a virtual queue, again being left disappointed by the time they got to the main page.

One fumed: “Tried to buy the Lidl beauty box, was sold out in seconds, actually worse than Ticketmaster and that’s saying something.”

A second chimed in: “I waited for the timer to go to zero, which it did, just before 10:00 but then nothing happened so I refreshed the page… and got a sold out message. It was a few seconds into 10:00.”

Lidl shoppers are going wild for ‘stunning’ bargains which will transform your garden for under £9

“The Lidl Beauty Box was sold out in less than a minute”, cried a third.

“Were there only 4 available to sell? Jokers.”

A fourth echoed: “How has the beauty box sold out within 1 second of being on sale? Surely something has gone wrong there?”

A fifth wrote: “Would love to know how many of the Lidl Beauty Box’s have actually been sold – on the page at 10am on the dot, sold out before I could click the basket.”

While a sixth added: “What a joke, all this hype on your Lidl Beauty Box and it’s sold out in like 1 second.”

And shoppers holding out hope for a restock may be disappointed as Lidl bosses say today’s 10am sale was a one-off “trial”.
