Monday soccer: Soldotna sweeps Homer
The host Soldotna soccer teams swept Homer on Monday in Peninsula Conference action.
The Soldotna girls defeated the Mariners 2-0 to move to 9-0-1 overall and 4-0-0 in the league. Homer is 5-3-2 and 2-2-1.
The goals for the Stars were Jillian Duncan on an assist from Morgan Lemm, and Grayson Henry with help from Kaytlin McAnelly and Lemm.
Ryan Queen had the clean sheet for the Stars.
The Soldotna boys won 2-0 to move to 9-0-1 overall and 4-0-0 in the league. Homer falls to 5-3-1 and 3-2-0.
Nuno Venturi got the scoring started for Soldotna in the 38th minute, while Andrew Arthur gave the Stars more breathing room in the 55th minute.
Luke Hillyer posted the shutout in net.
Soldotna coach Erik Dolphin wrote in a text message that is was a good game overall.
“We had tons of chances we didn’t convert,” he wrote. “They are a solid and very organized team.”
