Derrick Lewis redeems himself with first pitch at Cardinals game

Redemption, thy name is Derrick Lewis

This weekend, Lewis faces Rodrigo Nascimento on the main event of UFC St. Louis, where the man with the most knockouts in UFC history will look to add to his record by throwing hands. But before that, “The Black Beast” had something else to throw as he had the honor of tossing the first pitch for the St. Louis Cardinals in their home stand against the New York Mets.

This is not the first time Lewis has thrown out a first pitch at a baseball game as the Texas native threw out the opening pitch for the Houston Texans ahead of his interim heavyweight title fight against Ciryl Gane. Unfortunately, Lewis’s first foray was a disaster that made Lewis go viral for all the wrong reasons. Luckily, Lewis did not make the same mistake twice.

In Lewis’s Instagram post on the event, his team can be heard repeating “Redemption!” as the balls lands smoothly with the catcher.

Lewis looks to rebound from his most recent loss to Jailton Almeida when he faces Nascimento this Saturday the Enterprise Center in St. Louis.
