Man Utd stats

Manchester United are eighth in the Premier League table with two games in hand and only two points separating them from sixth placed Newcastle.

However, United have been struggling after winning only one of their last six league games, of which they lost one.

And a 13th Premier League defeat of the season would see the Red Devils set a new club record.

The Manchester giants have already endured another negative milestone after conceding 77 goals in 47 league and cup games this season, which is their most since the 1977-78 campaign.

United could also lose five Premier League away matches in London in a single season for the first time, having already lost at Tottenham, Arsenal, West Ham as well as Chelsea.

Crystal Palace stats

Crystal Palace are 14th in the Premier League table with eight points separating them from a top 10 finish.

Palace are also one goal short of equaling their club Premier League record for the most home goals scored in a single campaign, which stands at 29 from back in the 2017-18 season.

However, the Eagles have won just one of their last 12 top-flight fixtures that have been played on a Monday, losing four times along the way.

Oliver Glasner’s men now need to win all of their remaining three games to equal their club Prem record points total of 49, which they set back in the 1992-93 season and equaled in the 2018-19 campaign.

Head-to-Head

Crystal Palace and Manchester United’s first ever encounter took place way back in 1922 during a Second Division Match that saw the latter winning 2-1 at home.

Since then, the two sides have faced off a total of 65 times across all competitions with United winning 41 of the exchange compared to Palace’s 11 victories.

The Eagles won their first-round fixture in September at Old Trafford with a score of 1-0 thanks to Joachim Andersen’s winner.

Erik ten Hag’s side, though, won 3-0 in the Carabao Cup in Manchester, which is where they met just four days before their Premier League clash.

Nevertheless, Oliver Glasner’s men are aiming to do the league double over the Red Devils for the first time ever.

And their hopes are boosted by the fact the Manchester giants have scored just one goal in their last three visits at Selhurst Park.

Good evening from London

Welcome to SunSport’s live blog coverage of the Premier League clash between Crystal Palace and Manchester United at Selhurst Park – Kostas here, and I will be bringing you all the action.

Palace manager Oliver Glasner looks set for a double injury boost with Marc Guehi and Eberechi Eze targeting a return after overcoming their knee issues.

Guehi has recovered and Eze is also fit for this major encounter but Sam Johnstone and Cheick Doucoure remain sidelined with an Achilles and elbow injury respectively.

United boss Erik ten Hag, on the other hand, has been dealt an extra blow as the Manchester giants’ injury-ravaged season slowly comes to a close as captain Bruno Fernandes is a doubt due to an unspecified problem.

The Red Devils’ former skipper Harry Maguire will be out for about three weeks due to a muscle injury he sustained in training, while Marcus Rashford is also sidelined due to a knock.

Scott McTominay is facing a late assessment before kick-off in south London, while Tyrell Malacia (knee), Luke Shaw (muscle) and Raphael Varane (muscle) are still in the physio room.

However, Ten Hag has also received some good news as Jonny Evans and Anthony Martial, though, are back in training after respective muscle and groin injuries.
