Thursday’s front pages feature the increasingly hard police crackdowns on students protesting Israel’s Gaza war — amid the “simmering campus chaos,” the New York Daily News says, “students wonder about graduations,” The Boston Globe reports — and abortion politics. The same day “Arizona repeals 1864 abortion ban,” The New York Times notes, “Florida’s new abortion ban goes into effect,” the Miami Herald says. “Voters will decide its future” in November, the Herald adds, but so far the law has led “to ‘chaos,'” USA Today reports. The Washington Post records “tears, despair at a Florida abortion clinic” right before the new ban took effect.
After Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) said she will move to oust House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) next week, the Post says, there were “mostly shrugs from House GOP,” as many in her party “are fed up with infighting.”
