Charly Arnolt becomes first female UFC ring announcer after temporarily replacing ailing Joe Martinez

Charly Arnolt just etched her name in the UFC history books.

On Saturday at UFC Vegas 91, the backstage reporter became the first woman to serve as a ring announcer in the promotion’s history when she had to briefly replace announcer Joe Martinez. Arnolt was called into action following the conclusion of a flyweight bout between Karine Silva and Ariane da Silva, when she was asked to call the result of the fight on the broadcast.

The swap was reportedly due to Martinez being ill, though he returned later in the evening after Arnolt announced the co-main event bout between Bogdan Guskov and Ryan Spann. Martinez took the ring announcer duties again for the evening’s main event, which featured flyweight contenders Alex Perez and Matheus Nicolau.

In addition to her UFC duties, Arnolt currently serves as a television host for OutKick and is also an on-screen contributor to Fox News.
