Each contestant was tasked with creating a dish that celebrates cheese, with an appearance from April Jackson.

Admin officer Louise opted to make a blue cheese and pear pastry tart.

She served it to Gregg and John along with honey roasted pecans, a pear salad and pear gel.

However, moments after John bit into the dish he discovered it wasn’t fully cooked.

“That pastry in the middle of it was just not quite cooked enough,” he remarked.

He added: “It just needs a bit longer.”

But Gregg had a completely different complaint, telling Louise: “I don’t think you’ve got enough of that blue cheese in there.

“I can get the sweetness of the pear, but not enough salty gooeyness of that cheese.”

Louise was left-red faced from the mishap and told the cameras: “To know that the pastry was undercooked and I had a bit of time is a bit frustrating.”

But the error cost Louise her place in the competition and she was eliminated along with James.

MasterChef continues on BBC One and iPlayer.
