Having the status of a celebrity or well-known public figure comes with its fair share of ups and downs as comedian and actress Tiffany Haddish can attest, especially when it comes to naysayers online.

However, just because folks have freedom of speech doesn’t mean they’re free from clap backs and that’s exactly what the “Girls Trip” star has recently revealed to doing—albeit in an unorthodox way. Speaking at an appearance at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books at the University of Southern California over the weekend, she revealed that she has a fake X/Twitter account that she uses to combat negativity online.

“The internet came out and people got the freedom to talk about whatever they want to talk about. And now I wish I was back to illiterate again,” she joked, per People. “So people show me to talk about me. I don’t know why y’all talking about me so damn much, but that’s okay. I like to talk about you too.”

She went on to explain how she “made me a fake page and now I’m talking about shit. How about that? ‘Why is this lady attacking me?’ You talk about ‘what goes around comes around,’ don’t worry.”

Haddish denied having a “Finsta,” or a fake Instagram account, but took full ownership of having a fake Twitter/X account.

Now sure, Haddish has every right to defend herself as she sees fit, but I can’t help but see how this method is a cheap shot considering the fact that she’s a comedian and could very well use the negative comments in her standup routines and address them that way.

At least then, she’d be getting paid for the clapbacks instead of spending her time responding to strangers on the internet. But, as the old folks say: “if she likes, then I love it.” Go forth, Tiffany!
