World Snooker Championship 2024 LIVE RESULTS: Trump and Brecel in action as Ronnie O’Sullivan waits for Crucible bow

Ronnie ‘wouldn’t be surprised’ to win

Ronnie O’Sullivan has said that he “wouldn’t be surprised” if he wins the World Snooker Championship in the coming weeks.

The Rocket told Sky Sports that he is feeling good on the felt at the moment, but would also not not be shocked to see himself bow out in the first round.

He said: “The last few days, I’ve started to play alright and so I’ve started to fancy the job.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if I win it but, equally, I wouldn’t be surprised if I lost first round. Snooker sometimes doesn’t make sense.

“I still think I’ve got another one or two world titles in me. As long as I feel young around the snooker table, age is just a number.

“I thought I was finished at 35, but I’m still going at 48. I’ve still won a lot and I’m still [world] No 1, which is a bit of a miracle in itself.

“I’ve been going at it a long time and I still feel like I’ve got another five, six, seven good years in me. Who knows, as long as I’m still having fun and enjoying it.”

Shaun Murphy’s perfect trio

Snooker icon Shaun Murphy has claimed that he is the only person to have successfully pulled off a 147 maximum, a nine-darter and a hole-in-one.

The 41-year-old has long made the outrageous claim and has received online backlash fro naysayers since his admission.

However the potter has hit back at his doubters in an interwiew with The Telegraph, hinting that they are only jealous of his achievement.

It happened once and I don’t think it will ever happen again.

I’ve yet to meet anyone else who has done all three. If people want to join the club, applications are open.

It’s a debate that rages on social media. You wouldn’t believe how many people don’t believe me. Jealousy is a terrible thing.
