James filmed his final scenes on the cobbles last June, and has now been enlisted for the exciting new British thriller called Curfew.

He will be starring alongside X Factor legend Alexandra Burke, Doctor Who star Mandip Gill and Cutting It actress Sarah Parish.

The series will be set in a world where men are given a curfew under the fictional ‘Women’s Safety Act’ which requires them to stay home between the hours of 7pm and 7am.

Men also have to wear ankle tags which track their movements all day in order to reduce crime.

The effectiveness of the system comes into question when the dead body of a woman is dumped on the steps of the Women’s Safety Centre.

She was brutally murdered during curfew hours, which leads most of the police force to suspect another woman must have done it.

However, veteran cop Pamela Green is convinced that a man is responsible and sets out to prove it.

Producer Nathalie Peter-Contesse refers to the upcoming series as a “provocative and thrilling show that aims to contribute to the important conversation around violence against women”.

Coronation Street’s Daniel Osbourne caught with sex worker Nicky Wheatley

The Sun revealed that James was leaving Coronation Street back in 2023 after a hard-hitting storyline.

Viewers watched in horror as his character Aaron raped Amy Barlow after she fell asleep.

When the police failed to act, Amy exposed Aaron by writing about what he had done to her on social media.

He ended up leaving Weatherfield for good after she forced him to admit what he had done.

James spoke about his thoughts on the difficult scenes, saying: “I do feel very proud, from the beginning I knew how much work I was going to put into it and I knew how much work everyone at Corrie has put into it.

“As soon as we got started I knew it was going to be a really positive storyline in the long run so it’s something that I feel very proud of. It’s something that I hope the fans have enjoyed and more than anything have started to think about.”
